To solve this, use the equation speed = distance / time. S = D/t for short. The equation automatically gives you the distance and time it took, so this is pretty simple.

823.5/11.5 = 71.608695652173913043478260869565 miles per hour.

71.61 mph would probably work though. XD

As we need to calculate speed, we use the equation "s = d ÷ t"
To write the known facts, "s = 823.5 ÷ 11.5"
Using a calculator =
\frac{823.5}{11.5}
= 71.61m/s (to the nearest 2 d.p)

How to simplify fractions
REY [17]

\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{4}      You have to make the denominators(bottom of the fraction) the same in order to combine the fractions.

To make the denominator of \frac{1}{2} the same as \frac{1}{4}, you multiply the top and bottom of the fraction by 2 (because they both have a common multiple of 4)

\frac{1*2}{2*2}=\frac{2}{4}

So:

\frac{2}{4} +\frac{1}{4} =\frac{3}{4}
