Read the excerpt from part 2 of Zeitoun. It brought forth a vague memory of a storm on Arwad Island, when he was just a boy, whe

n the Mediterranean rose up and swallowed the lower-sitting homes, the blue-green sea sitting inside living rooms and bedrooms and kitchens. The water breached and dodged the Phoenician stones surrounding the island without any difficulty at all. Why does the author include this flashback?

Answer:

The Author included the above flashback to recall Zeitoun's foreign birth and the universality of struggles against nature.

Explanation:

In the part 2 of Zeitouns, it becomes clear that despite the effort of Zeitouns to adjust his lifestyle to that of Southern American culture, Americans do not accomodate them. the incidence of Todd offering Zeitons a beer bearing in mind the strict prohibition of alcohol in islam. and likewise the fact that Kathy's mother believed that Zeitouns forces kathy to wear hijab and tell her to be herself shows how culturally insensitive the Americans are to them.

Although their are many insensitivity of most of the characters, the part 2 is an exaltation of the common man.

The Author included the above flashback to recall zeitouns foreign birth and universality of struggles. Zeitons grew up in Jabel in syria. where His father was a sea captain, Zeitons and His brother also grew up to become sailors. The great storm evokes his memory of the island. The Author empasizes individual heroism in the aftermath of the storm.

The best explanation of why Rukeyser repeats them is "to emphasize the idea that war is violent".

What is a poem?

A poem is a piece of poetic writing, that is with an intensity or depth of expression or inspiration greater than is usual in prose.

Rukeyser repeated the first and last lines of the poem in order to emphasize the idea that war is violent and it destroys. War is never a thing of joy an individual should experience. It displace families, destroy properties and businesses.

Why is drugs in school not a strong topic?
Sholpan [36]

Answer:

Drugs are not a huge topic in school because it is not healthy for anyone to do. All schools are a drug-free zone to keep the kids safe from second hand smoking because it is proven that second hand smoking is more deadly then that person smoking (which is one way drugs can be used) because the person is not immune to the toxins in your body as they are. It can cause heart failure and many other side affects, may resulting in death. It is not something that schools want to promote in a school, just for the fact that they want to the students go far in life and not have to die at a young age because of nicotine use or any other kind of drugs, that is not want a school was built for.

motikmotik
This discovery activity puts students in the place of real volcanologists by giving them access to real-time data from Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii. They learn about volcano monitoring techniques, study case histories of important volcanic processes, and then form and test hypotheses for past and future volcanic events with multiple instruments and real-time data. As a result, students will understand the processes that shape a basaltic shield volcano.
