The Ancient Arctic tribes did not have as many sources of food as the people living in more temperate areas. However, they still managed to have thriving communities based on hunting and fishing. These people hunted whales, walrus, caribou, seal, polar bears, birds and fish. Although they did not plant, they collected the types of plants that could be found in some areas, such as grasses, roots, berries and seaweed.
