Excerpt from Getting in Sync Mira D’Angelo Camilla and Briony could not agree on who would assume control once they reached the

top of the platform. Briony had tried to cue them, but Camilla had missed it. The girls were irritating each other and Evelyn knew it was crucial that they put their egos aside in order to work together. Instead of reprimanding them, she encouraged the girls to take turns cueing the dive. The strategy worked: their next several dives were nearly flawless. From the side, it looked as if only one girl was diving instead of two. What is the BEST way to summarize paragraph 8? A) Camilla and Briony had to learn to work together on their own. B) Evelyn stepped in at a crucial time to give Camilla and Briony some important advice. C) Camilla and Briony got on each other's nerves so much that they would not listen to each other. D) Camilla and Briony struggled to work together, but by using the advice from Evelyn, however, they were able to work as a team.

The appropriate answer is option D.

Camilla and Briony are in conflict regarding who would be in charge the moment they arrive at the top of the platform. However, Evelyn is smart enough to realize they must work as a team. As a consequence, she advices them to take turns cueing the dive. Therefore, the girls overcome their differences and work combining actions effectively.

Answer:

1.The waves symbolize the Seventh's Man's fear.

2After he rediscovers K.'s water colors, what does the seventh man do with them? The seventh man takes a good, concentrated look at the watercolor paintings that K. had given him. In his own words he explains, "I opened the bundle again and forced myself to take a long, hard look at K.'s watercolors."

3. K.'s watercolors symbolize the great, and warm memories that the seventh man had with K. during the duration that they spent as best friends before the traumatic event. When you paraphrase, you restate a text in your own words.

4. "I found myself in warm memories." Paraphrase the seventh man's comments about fear in the story's final paragraph. He is saying in very wise words that you should not be fearful of being fearful of something.

5.As the story unfolds and the seventh man comes to peace with his constant blame and grief and also eliminates his fear of the ocean, we see that the best way to deal with fear is to face it rather than turn our backs on it and let it slowly overtake us.

6. Although the seventh man did not die, he did not truly escape the wave because for forty long years, he dealt with imagining the traumatizing image of his best friend K. being swallowed by the giant wave, and continuously had nightmares down to the smallest detail about his experience.
