The cell shrank because in the beginning there was more water than solute so the water distributed to the outside of the cell therefore causing the cell to shrink. This is a hypertonic solution because the cell shrinks.

Because the concentration outside the cell was bigger then inside the cell, so water moves to the outside by osmosis so the concentration inside=concentration outside
