ws.
And Lancelot knelt down and took the king’s beloved hand in both of his and kissed it. “Good night, my liege lord, my liege friend,” he said, and then stumbled blindly from the room and felt his way down the curving stone steps past the arrow slits. As he came to the level of the next landing, Guinevere issued silently from a darkened entrance. He could see her in the thin light from the arrow slit. She took his arm and led him to her dark chamber and closed the oaken door. “A strange thing happened,” she said softly.

Answer:

The author wants to show the crisis that is upon Lancelot and the emotional turmoil he is going through within himself. This is achieved through the author's detailed description and  perfect imaging of the finest details even though it was nighttime.

Explanation:

Sir Lancelot returns to Camelot after another successful adventure. Even though he is favored by the King and also is famous, he is not happy. Being famous and successful isn't the only thing that can keep man happy, it seems. He and Queen Guinevere had been having an affair behind the King's back and the King doesn't even have an inkling of it. He still treats Lancelot with the same treatment he had always did, with love and everything that is deemed fit for a knight. But with the queen stuck in a loveless marriage and their illegal relationship, Lancelot feels a heavy heart and can't even be happy with the queen. He knows he's betraying the king's trust but he can't do nothing about it too. He's in a conflict between his loyalty for the king and his love for the queen.

The author, in showing this particular scene where Lancelot is seen bidding goodnight to the king wants to highlight and emphasize the emotional turmoil Lancelot is in and his inability to come to any possible solution without hurting either of the two other parties involved. And through the detailed description and the perfect display of the details (even though it was dark), he is able to show the emotional strain and turmoil Lancelot is in. And we as a reader, are deeply involved in that turmoil and can share in his agony

Read the excerpt from Act III, scene v of Romeo and Juliet.Lady Capulet: But much of grief shows still some want of wit. Juliet:
Zinaida [17]

Hello. Although you have presented the text to which this question refers, you have not presented the question itself, which makes it impossible for it to be answered. However, to try to help you, I will explain to you what is happening in this text and I hope this will be useful.

As you may already know, "Romeo and Juliet" is a play written by Shakespeare that tells the tragic story of forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet, that, although they love each other, they belong to enemy families. In the city where Romeo and Juliet live, there is a law that anyone who kills someone on the street will be killed. Well, Romeo killed Julieta's cousin, after being teased by him and after he married her, without the family of any of them knowing. In order not to be killed, he flees the city and Juliet is in tears for the death of her cousin and for the exile of her husband.

The scene shown above, shows the moment when Juliet's mother, Lady Capulet, watches her daughter cry in despair. Lady Capulet does not know that Juliet married Romeo and thinks that her daughter is crying solely for the death of her cousin. This is an example of dramatic irony, which occurs when the audience knows about something, but the characters don't. That's because while the audience knows the real reason Juliet is crying, her mother doesn't know.

What attitude toward society is best reflected by Thoreau’s actions in Walden?
aalyn [17]
I believe that the correct answer is <span>a desire to retreat from society when necessary.
Thoreau greatly valued nature as the ultimate source of peace and happiness. He believed that humans cannot truly be happy in cities, surrounded by concrete and malice, but should rather escape to nature and lead fulfilled lives instead.
