Answer:

 • x-intercept: 82.75
 • y-intercept: -2.15

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the x-intercept, set y=0 and solve.

... 0 = log(12x +7) -3

... 3 = log(12x +7) . . . . add 3

... 1000 = 12x +7 . . . . take the antilog. (10^3 = 1000)

... 993 = 12x . . . . . . . .subtract 7

... 82.75 = x . . . . . . . . divide by 12

To find the y-intercept, set x=0 and solve.

... y = log(12·0 +7) -3

... y = log(7) -3 . . . . . . simplify

... y ≈ 0.85 -3 = -2.15 . . . . use a calculator for the log function

. Joan wants to buy a new TV that costs $1299.99. The store has a discount on the TV for 30% off. The city Joan lives in has a 1
Naily [24]

Answer:

$1023.74

Step-by-step explanation:

Joan wants to buy a new TV that costs $1299.99. The store has a discount on the TV for 30% off. The city Joan lives in has a 12.5% sales tax. What will be the total cost of the TV?

Step 1

We find the new price after the discount.

Discount = % Discount × Current price

= 30% × $1299.99

= $389.997

The new discounted price =

$1299.99 - $389.997

= $909.993

Step 2

We calculate the Sales tax

The city Joan lives in has a 12.5% sales tax.

Hence,

The sales tax =

12.5% × $909.993

= 12.5/100 × $909.993

= $113.749125

Step 3

The total cost of the TV is calculated as:

Sales Tax + Discounted price

= $113.749125 + $909.993

= $1023.742125

Approximately = $1023.74

The total cost of the TV = $1023.74

2 less than three times a number is the same as the number plus 10
BaLLatris [955]
2-3n=n+10

so two less than three is subtracting two minus three. than three times a number; we dont know that number so we put it as a variable. in this case n. so they are multiplying right now. "is" means equals. than the same number, which is n, plus 10. so add ten with n.

slope-intercept form for the line that passes through (-1,-7) and is perpendicular to the graph of 3x+12y=-6
Mrac [35]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

We first need to find the slope of the given line. Putting that standard form of a line into slope intercept:

12y = -3x - 6 so

y=-\frac{1}{4}x-\frac{1}{2}

In this form we can easily determine that our slope is -1/4. That means that the perpendicular slope, the opposite reciprocal, is +4. We will write first the point slope of the new line using our given point, then solve it for y, putting it into slope-intercept form. y - (-7) = 4(x - (-1)) and

y + 7 = 4x + 4 so

y = 4x + 4 - 7 so

y = 4x - 3

I like dogs but this question is a hard one.
Savatey [412]

Answer:

Work below

Step-by-step explanation:

49 total dogs.

36 more small dogs.

13 big dogs.

lol just realized today's school has sh*t wording and this question can be taken TWO ways. 36 more as in, 36 more dogs in total or 36 more small dogs than large dogs adding the amount of large dogs with this. this gives us 49.

the only way to get the x value (large dogs) and add this on top of the 36 (small dogs) and get 49 is to do 6.5 + 42.5 (36 + 6.5) this gives us 49.

Thanks guy in the comments for giving the second response, after some thinking i realized that i could also read it that way.
