If we construct a triangle in a circle of radius r, the radius of the circle will be the hypotenuse of our triangle, and the legs will be x and y as you can see in the picture.
Now we can construct our trigonometric ratios for our triangle as usual:
sin \alpha = \frac{y}{r}
cos \beta = \frac{x}{r}
tan \beta = \frac{y}{x}
csc \beta = \frac{r}{y}
sec \beta = \frac{r}{x}
cot \beta = \frac{x}{y}

As you can see the only two trigonometric functions that don't depend on the value of r are tangent and cotangent.

8 quarters and 13 dimes
8 times 0.25 equalls 2.00
13 times 0.10 equalls 1.30
add 2.00 and 1.30
you get 3.30

8 plus 5 is 13
so there are five more dimes than quarters

Explain why the focus of a parabola is never on the parabola itself
Mrrafil [7]
<span>This is because the focus of the parabola is the point which the parabola wraps itself around, for lack of a better word.

</span><span>The only point we need to be really concerned about that is on the parabola is the vertex, right at the center.

Using the slope formula, find the slope of the line through the points (0,0) and (4,8).
Gala2k [10]

Answer:

m = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Using mental math to find the slope of the line:</u>

If you think about the formula, then you set up the points in your head, you will notice that the first point is on top of the second point. And that way makes it easy to simplify. All you would need to do is subtract down in your head: For example:

(0, 0)

(4, 8)

As you can see, the first point is on top of the other, and that way you can just subtract from bottom to top. If you do it that way, it is set up (Remember, you would do this all in your head)
