If the ratio of boys to girls in a class is 8:5 you will not be able to tell how many students are in the class because there could be 8 boys and 5 girls in the class or there could be 16 boys and 10 girls.

1/3m- 1- 1/2n when m= 21 and n = 12
Alex73 [517]
With this one, plug in the values with the corresponding letters. 1/3m would be the same as 1/3(21) to get an answer of 7. Then 1/2(12) which is 6. Now the equation is 7-1-6 to get an answer of 0.

Find the area of a regular octagon with an apothem 9.7 meters long and a side length of 8 meters.
rosijanka [135]
The area of a regular octagon is:
A = a * P / 2,  where a is an apothem and P is a perimeter.
P = 8 * 8 m = 64 m
A = 9.7 m * 64 m / 2
A = 620.8 / 2 m²
A = 310.4 m²
Answer:
The area of a regular octagon is 310.4 m².

A baseball team has a 20-person roster. A batting order has nine people. How many different batting orders are there
Jobisdone [24]

Answer:

60,949,324,800

Step-by-step explanation:

We solve the above question using Permutation formula

The formula for Permutation =

nPr = n!/(n - r)!

Total Amount in a Set (n) = 20 persons

Amount in each Sub-Set (r) = 9 batting order

Hence:

20P9 = 20!/(20 - 9)!

= 60,949,324,800

Therefore, the different batting orders they would have are: 60,949,324,800
