What conclusion can you draw about a nonzero real number if its absolute value is equal to itsopposite?
Katen [24]

Given Question

The problem can be translated to: IxI = -x.

Procedure

These lead to a system of linear equations

x = -x for x>0….Equation 1

or

x = -(-x) for x<0….Equation 2

From Equation 1 x = 0 which is not accepted since it is given x is a non-zero real number.

From the Equation 2 x = x

Which is valid for all real numbers such that x<0

Conclusion

Therefore we conclude here that x should be a negative real number to have its absolute value equals to its opposite.

Please help math finals!!!What is the equation of the line that has a slope of 14 and goes through the point (8,−3)
katovenus [111]

I'm taking the same final test.

The answer is y= 1/4x - 5

How? Well in this case we are using the formula y= mx + b

Substituting it with the given point (8, -3) and the slope 1/4

it'll look like -3 = 1/4 (8) + b

Next we solve.

-3 = 1/4 (8) + b

-3 = 8/4 + b

-3 = 2 + b

-2 -3 = b

-5 = b

so we now we know that b = -5.

All we have to do is substitute that into the equation to get our final answer (this time, without the point 8,-3).

Our answer in the end is y = 1/4x -5

how much of a $2,000 medical bill would you pay if your policy contains a $400 deductible and a 10% coinsurance clause
puteri [66]
2000 - 400= 1600 * .10= 160+400= $560 is probably right, but I pretty much guessed on how to get that.
