Certainly the utmost rim of my first dome was filled with the tumultuous impression of soldiers marching to death for freedom's

sake, of pioneers streaming westward to establish self-government in yet another sovereign state. Only the great dome of St. Peter's itself has ever clutched my heart as did that modest curve which had sequestered from infinitude in a place small enough for my child's mind, the courage and endurance which I could not comprehend so long as it was lost in "the void of unresponsible space" under the vaulting sky itself.
In at least 150 words, discuss the comparison described in the figurative language and how the connotative language reinforces the symbol. Be sure to include a definition of your terms.

The author uses this literary device called Figurative Language to express the feelings experienced; in this passage, the narrator talks about how the its mind and head were with the awful feeling of sadness. The author also talks about the sensation of space in which her mind was enclosed.

All this sentences and comparisons are part of a Figurative language that is used to make the speech more effective, persuasive, and impactful for the reader to feel more deeply the words of the narrator and could live through them. This figure goes beyond the literal meaning of the words and gives the reader more insights.

How does Paul Thompson describe Nathaniel Brazill's state of mind during the trial? Why is that relevant?
luda_lava [24]

Paul Thompsn describes a massive loss of brain cells and therefore brain conections in those areas that are related to impulses and to self control as an event that occurs in all teenagers, and considers this loss to be the cause of many teenagers' reckless behavior and mental confusion. While Dr. Thompson does not consider this scientific finding a justification for violent actions like the shooting of a teacher by Brazill, he does prove that an adolescent's brain is not the same as an adult's and therefore the trial of Nathaniel Brazill should not be based on the same criteria as if he had planned his actions with an adult's mind and deliberation. Dr. Thompson's description resulted in his being sentenced for second-degree murder, rathen tthan for first-degree murder as he would have been, had he been an adult.
