Osmotic balance is important to homeostasis because _________ can easily enter/leave the body

Biology
1 answer:
Kazeer [188]3 years ago

Answer:

The correct answer is: water.

Explanation:

Homeostasis is the state in which the body maintains itself in order to operate at its fullest, and for this to happen there are some factors that the body needs to regulate at all times: body temperature, pH, ion concentration, among others.

Osmotic balance ensures the concentration of electrolytes and non-electrolytes in the different compartments of the body: intracellular, extracellular, inside the plasma.

Since osmotic balance is achieved by regulating the filtration and absorption of water, it is very important for the systems in charge of homeostasis to control this aspect. For example, when there's water loss because of heavy exercise, the anterior pituitary gland releases ADH, a hormone that will act on the kidney to produce the reabsorption of water and avoid dehydration.

In the evolutionary adaptation sense, what is fitness?
Stells [14]
The answer is letter A.

In the evolutionary sense fitness refers to the measure of reproductive success of an individual or of organisms in general. Those organisms that leave the largest number of mature offspring are the fittest. Fitness can be achieved through survival or mortality selection, mating success or sexual selection, and family size or fecundity selection. Fitness is critical for a species’ survival and is a major adaptation that all organisms do through a long period of time.

Who created the "first real theory of evolution" that animals can undergo
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

Jean-Baptiste Lamarck

Explanation:

Jean-Baptiste Lamarck was a French biologist which developed the first theory to understand how species change (evolve) over time. This evolutionary concept was published under the name of 'Theory of the Transmutation of Species' in the early 19th century. Subsequently, Darwin published his famous and widely accepted evolutionary theory in the book 'On the Origin of Species' (1859).

AUGGCGUUU which of the following DNA strands could have been the template for this RNA?
Delvig [45]

Answer:

3' TACCGCAAA 5'

Explanation:

Transcription is the process by which a particular DNA sequence (e.g., a gene) is used as a template to synthesize a complementary RNA sequence that grows in a 5′ → 3′ direction. This RNA molecule is usually a messenger RNA (mRNA) which is then used to synthesize a polypeptide chain (i.e., a protein) by a process called translation. The complementary RNA molecule produced during transcription is synthesized according to the base pair rules, i.e., Adenine (A) bases always pair with Thymine (T) bases, while Guanine (G) bases always pairs with Cytosine (C) bases. In RNA, Uracil (U) bases pair with adenine, thereby replacing thymines during transcription.
