Ap euro how did european imperial interests shift geographically in the nineteenth century

History

If you think of European empire prior to the 19th century, where did they extend their control over other lands?  It was mostly in the Western hemisphere.  France and Spain and others had large colonial territories in the Americas.  During the years following the French Revolution in Europe (which happened at the end of the 18th century), Napoleon came to power and the Napoleonic wars were fought across Europe.  The focus of Napoleon's attention was on Europe, not on colonies across the ocean.  So, for instance, he sold off the Louisiana Purchase to the United States.  Elsewhere across the Americas, native populations took advantage of the changes in Europe to rebel against colonial governments.  Napoleon had taken control over Spain and other parts of Europe as well as France, and a wave of independence movements broke out in colonial territories in Central America and South America.

When Europe resumed efforts to extend its control over other parts of the world, later in the 19th century (and into the early 20th century), they shifted their focus to Africa and Asia.  There was a race for controlling territories across all of Africa and especially in southeast Asia.  In Africa, only Ethiopia and Liberia managed to maintain their independence from European control when that wave of imperialist action took place.

Which statement describes an event that would shift the nation's ppc to the right
Schach [20]
Based on the given paragraph, the statement that would shift the nation X's PPC is the statement: "Within three months of coming into office, Bertolini passed regulations that made college education available to students from low-income families". This is so because the statement shows a great achievement coming from a female president from an island who accomplished so much within a short period of time. The other statements are just supporting statements of the main spotlight statement. For example, the last statement about the female astronaut is out of context, therefore, we cannot refer this as the main content of the paragraph. <span />

How did the World War One affect the social, political and economic status of women?
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

World War I's impact on women's roles in society was immense. Women were conscripted to fill empty jobs left behind by the male servicemen, and as such, they were both idealized as symbols of the home front under attack and viewed with suspicion as their temporary freedom made them "open to moral decay. Even if the jobs they held during the war were taken away from the women after demobilization, during the years between 1914 and 1918, women learned skills and independence, and, in most Allied countries, gained the vote within a few years of the war's end. The role of women in the First World War has become the focus of many devoted historians in the past few decades, especially as it relates to their social progress in the years that followed.
