Mathematics

Answer:

Part A) see the explanation

Part B) The initial value is 60 meters and the slope is 40 m/min (see the explanation)

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A) see the attached figure with letters to better understand the problem

we know that

If two triangles are similar then the ratio of its corresponding sides is proportional

In this problem

triangles ACD and ABE are similar by AA Similarity Theorem

so

\frac{AE}{AD}=\frac{BE}{CD} ----> equation A

Remember that the slope is equal to divide the change in the y-value by the change in the x-value

so

The slope AB is equal to \frac{AE}{BE}

The slope AC is equal to \frac{AD}{CD}

Rewrite the equation A

\frac{AE}{AD}=\frac{BE}{CD}

\frac{AE}{BE}=\frac{AD}{CD}

therefore

The slope of AB is equal to the slope of AC

Part B)

Let

x ---->the amount of time in minutes

y ----> the depth in meters

Find the initial value

we know that

The y-intercept or initial value is the value of y when the value of x is equal to zero

In this context the y-intercept is the depth of the shark when the time is equal to zero, so is the initial depth of the shark

Looking at the graph

For x=0

y=60 meters

therefore

The initial value is 60 meters

<em>Find the slope</em>

The formula to calculate the slope between two points is equal to

m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

Take two points from the graph

C(0,60) and B(1,100)

substitute

m=\frac{100-60}{1-0}

m=40\ m/min

That means ---->The depth of the shark increases at the rate of 40 meters per minute

Find the sum of those four-digit numbers which contain the digits 2,4,5,9 (and the digits are not repeated).
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

Sum of all 4 digits number which contains 2,4,5,9(without repetition) = 133320

Step-by-step explanation:

Let suppose sum of All 4 digits number which contains 2,4,5,9(without repetition) is A×10^{3} +B×10^{2} +C×10 + D(equation 1)

if we fix 2 at unit place ( _ , _ , _ , 2)  then total  no of possible outcomes is 3!(3×2×1)

and sum of all possible outcomes of which has 2 at unit place is 3!×2

Similarly,

if we fix 4 at unit place then we got sum 3!×4

if we fix 5 at unit place then we got sum 3!×5

if we fix 9 at unit place then we got sum 3!×9

So,  the total sum  of unit place will be  3!×20

D = 3!×20

In the same above manner we will do for ten's place then we got result

C = 3!×20

In the same above manner we will do for Hundred's place then we got result

B = 3!×20

In the same above manner we will do for Thousand's place then we got result

A = 3!×20

Then,  Replace A,B,C & D in equation 1

we got new equation =  3!×20×10^{3} +3!×20×10^{2} +3!×20×10 + 3!×20

lets take  3!×20 common

3!×20(1+10^{1}+10^{2}+10^{3} )

if we observe then it is a Geometric Progression

Sum of "n" number of Geometric Progression is = \frac{a_{1}(r^{n}-1 )}{r-1}

a_{1} = the first term

r = common ratio

n = number of terms

In above case,

a_{1}  = 1

r = 10

n = 4

hence,\frac{1(10^{4}-1 )}{10-1} = \frac{9999}{9} = 1111

Sum of all 4 digits number which contains 2,4,5,9(without repetition) = 3!×20×111

=133320

A relative frequency table is made from data in a frequency table.
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

k = 11  let me know if you don't understand how I got this.

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm gonna write it out

 U V total

S  26 42 68

T   21 k 32

Total 47 53 100

So, you want to look at the column and row labeled total, this is the key.  for the row total, it sums up everything in the column above it.  so for the u column, the total value is 47 while the two values above it are 26  and 21.  These two values sum to 47.  This is the same for all other columns, and you can use the same reasoning with the total column as well summing rows.

This gives you two ways to solve for k.  either 21 + k = 32 or 42 + k = 53.  Either way gets you the answer k = 11

Sliva [168]

Answer:

a. 29

b. 9.1

Step-by-step explanation:

General = The perimeter is all the sides added togther.

a. x is given to you, so you just add all the numbers.

b. Now the perimeter is given, but not x. So add the numbers you can see. That would be 9+6.5+4.7= 20.2

So something + 20.2 has to equal 29.3

29.3 - 20.2 = 9.1.

I did not answer c. because I'm not very confident that my answer would be right. With my explainaion I hope you can figure it out easily enough. Good Luck!
