Answer:

The Kiowa people and their historical journey are intimately related to the land.

Explanation:

"The Way to Rainy Mountain" (1969) is a book about native American Kiowa tribe by American author N. Scott Momaday (born 1934). It is an autobiography with historical, folklore and cultural elements of Kiowa tribe.

The opening line of the prologue is about land itself,

<em>"A single knoll rises out of the plain in Oklahoma, north and west of the Wichita Range. For my people, the Kiowas, it is an old  landmark, and they gave it the name Rainy Mountain"</em>

In the start of the prologue N. Scots talks mostly about the weather, environment and nature of the land his tribe inhabited for three centuries after migrating from north and ruled it for last one century. In next part of the prologue, he talks about his purpose of visiting his native lands again, talks about his grandmother, and then talks briefly about how Kiowa warriors surrendered to U.S Cavalry. In the last part of the prologue he talks about folklore and culture of the Kiowa tribes which had crops, land, earth, rainy mountain sky as their essential components.

The main purpose of the Prologue is to give insight into Kiowa tribe, their traditions, their land, environment and religion. Second, third and fourth options of the answer are incorrect because they are hardly discussed in the Prologue

Dominik [7]

Excerpt:

"Bru-h Lizard and Bru-h Rabbit” from The People Could Fly.

Well, that lizard was a hard worker. He had a big sword he use to cut his crop. Sword knew how to work by herself and it cut so fine, there was nothin left, once somethin was cut. Bru-h Lizard speakin words to the sword and Sword do all the work. That's how it went.

Answer:

The lizard uses a sword to cut crops.

Explanation:

A figures of speech is also referred to as figurative language and it can be defined as a deliberate and specific construction or use of language by writers, authors or speakers to create a special effect in their speech or literary work (write-ups).

In English literature, the main purpose of the figures of speech (figurative language) is to convey more information and enable the readers or listeners have a deeper understanding of a literary work. Some examples of the figures of speech (figurative language) used in literature are simile, paradox, metaphor, apostrophe, hyperbole, personification, etc.

Personification involves intentionally attributing life, human characteristics (qualities) or feelings and emotions to animate and inanimate objects i.e non-living things.

An example of personification in the excerpt above is, The lizard uses a sword to cut crops. It's practically impossible for a lizard or any other animal to use a sword in cutting crops because they lack the sense, ability and composure to do so.

cupoosta [38]

Answer:

Aphorism

Explanation:

Anagram is a word, phrase, or name formed by rearranging the letters of another. I don't think this is it because they is no words that were rearranged.

Aphorism is a pithy observation that contains a general truth. This could be true!

Analogy is a comparison between two things. This is not it because there are not two things being compared.

Allusion is an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference. This is not it because this sentence is explicit meaning it is very straight foward.

Out of all four of those... I would go with Aphorism.
