Whats the slope of (-3,-2) and (5,4)
Sphinxa [80]
Hello,

Slope is rise/run, or y/x, and if you are given two pairs of points, this is the equation needed:  (y2-y1) over (x2-x1).

Let me plug in the numbers: (4-(-2) over 5-(-3). And that is 6/8, which then is simplified to 3/4. So the slope of those two given points is 3/4. We do not divide or simplify it into a decimal because slope is a fraction, so we leave 3/4 as it is.

Hope this helps, and that my explanation is not too confusing!

What is the solution to the inequality |2n+5|>1
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

ANSWER

n < - 3 \: or \: n > - 2n<−3orn>−2

EXPLANATION

The given inequality is,

|2n + 5| \: > \: 1∣2n+5∣>1

By the definition of absolute value,

- (2n + 5) \: > \: 1 \: or \: (2n + 5) \: > \: 1−(2n+5)>1or(2n+5)>1

We divide through by negative 1, in the first part of the inequality and reverse the sign to get,

2n + 5 \: < \: - 1 \: or \: (2n + 5) \: > \: 12n+5<−1or(2n+5)>1

We simplify now to get,

2n \: < \: - 1 - 5 \: or \: 2n \: > \: 1 - 52n<−1−5or2n>1−5

2n \: < \: - 6 \: or \: 2n \: > \: - 42n<−6or2n>−4

Divide through by 2 to obtain,

n \: < \: - 3 \: or \: n \: > \: - 2n<−3orn>−2
