45 foot long hot dogs will be served if there are a total of 120 dogs served.

Solution:

Given that

Ratio of irregular hot dogs and foot long hot dogs is 5 : 3

Which means when 5 irregular hot dogs are serve, 3 foot long hot dogs are served.

Total number of dogs served = 120

To find : Number of foot long dogs served

\text { Number of foot long dogs served }=\frac{3}{5+3} \times \text { total number of dogs }

\text { Number of foot long dogs served }=\frac{3}{5+3} \times 120=\frac{3}{8} \times 120=45

Hence 45 foot long hot dogs will be served if there are a total of 120 dogs served.

Write each of the following in scientific notation.
ycow [4]

Scientific notation is the way through which a very small or a very large number can be written in shorthand. The given following number or sentences can be written in the form of scientific notation as shown.

What is Scientific notation?

Scientific notation is the way through which a very small or a very large number can be written in shorthand. In scientific notations when a number between 1 and 10s is multiplied by a power of 10.

For example, 6,500,000,000,000 can be written as 6.5e+12 or 6.5×10¹².

The given following number or sentences can be written in the form of scientific notation as shown below.

a.) 1,000,000 = 1×10⁶ = 1e+6

b.) .00005 = 5×10⁻⁵ = 5e-5

c.) 40 thousand = 40,000 = 4×10⁴ = 4e+4

d.) 7 trillion = 7,000,000,000,000 = 7×10¹² = 7e+12

e.) 8 thousandths = 0.008 = 8×10⁻³ = 8e-3

f.) one tenth = 0.1 = 1×10⁻¹ = 1e-1

A membership committee of three is formed from four eligible members. let the eligible members be represented by a, b, c, and d.
Lynna [10]

The correct statements are:

There are four ways to choose the committee.

There are three ways to form the committee if person D must be on it.

If persons B and C must be on the committee, there are two ways to form the committee.

It is given that:

A membership committee of three is formed from four eligible members.

1)

There are four ways to choose the committee.

This statement is true.

since we have to choose 3 members out of the 4 members so we can use the method of combination.

2)

There are three ways to form the committee if person D must be on it.

This statement is also true.

since D has to be in the committee, this means we have to choose 2 more people out of the three people to form the committee.

3)

If seven members are eligible next year, then there will be fewer combinations.

This statement is wrong.

Since we have to choose 3 members out of 7 members so the number of possible combinations will be:

i.e. there are 35 combinations possible.

4)

If persons B and C must be on the committee, there are two ways to form the committee.

if B and C have to be in the committee then we have to choose just one person out of the two people left.

Hence, the statement is true.

5)

If persons A and C must be on the committee, then there is only one way to form the committee.

If A and C have to be in the committee then as in last option we have to choose any one of the two person left.

so possible number of ways are 2.

Hence, the statement is false.
