A dominant figure in Athenian Politics was Pericles. ( Fifth Century BC ). This era saw a peek of Athenian imortance. In turn, the figure of Pericles was so significant that this period of Athenian History is sometimes called "Age of Pericles". Pericles , appart from a statesman was also an Athenian General.
