Choose the sentence that is correctly punctuated.

English
2 answers:
krok68 [10]3 years ago

Answer:

D. The history professor asked, “What famous event happened on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee?"

Explanation:

There needs to be a comma between "asked" and the open quote to represent a pause and separate who asked the question, and the question itself; this rules out alternative B.

When presenting dates within a sentence, there needs to be a comma after the date to separate it from the rest of the sentence; this rules out alternatives A and C.

By process of elimination, the only possible alternative is D.

AVprozaik [17]

Answer:

Trochaic Octameter.

Explanation:

Trochaic octameter is the poetic foot of a line in poetry where there are eight feet/ syllables per line. The foot of each word has two syllables where a stressed syllable is followed by an unstressed syllable.

In the given poetry of Edgar Allen Poe, the lines all contain stressed syllables followed by unstressed syllables, alternating between the two. This is evident in the first lines of the poem-

Once upon a midnight dreary,

while I pondered weak and weary,

The ones in bold signify the stressed syllables while the rest are the unstressed syllables.

Can someone give me feedback on my thesis statement?
user100 [1]

Your thesis statement is a bit wordy. Omit the phrase "and other problems." Change the wording in the latter half of your thesis, as it makes it sound like you are trying to regulate the consequences, not the thing itself. You should also list the consequences. Here's an example of a thesis statement that would sound better (corrections are in bold):

Advancements in genetic engineering such as designer babies have impacted people's lives by getting rid of genetic diseases; however, these advancements should be regulated because of their many consequences, including [consequences here].

In a linear speech the thesis would most likely be found in a clear, concise, and implicit statement.
Andru [333]
That would be false.
