We have that
poster---------------- > 28 in X 32 in

1 in-------------------------------- >0.0833333 ft
28 in------------ > 28*.0833333=2.33 ft
32 in------------ > 32*.0833333=2.67 ft
Let
D---------------- >distance from the ceiling to the top of the poster
D=(9- <span>5 1/2 -2.67/2)=(9-5.5-1.335)=2.165 ft

the answer is 2.165 ft

Answer:

2.165 ft = 25.99 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we convert all units to feet.

1 inch = 0.0833 ft

28 inches = 2.33 ft (Width of poster)

32 inches = 2.67 ft (Height of poster)

center of poster = \frac{2.67}{2} = 1.335 ft

Room height = 9 ft

Tania wants the center of the poster to be at 5.5 ft from the floor, this means the lower half of the poster will be pasted from 5.5 ft down.

While the upper half of the poster will be pasted on the remaining (upper) part of the wall i.e from 5.5 ft to the ceiling.

This means the upper part of the wall will be

(9 - 5.5) = 3.5 ft

The portion of poster pasted on the upper part of the wall is half of the poster = 1.335 ft.

The distance from the ceiling to top of poster will be gotten by subtracting half part of the poster (1.335 ft) from the upper part of the wall (3.5 ft).

If the distance is given by D

D = 3.5 - 1.335 = 2.165 ft

Convert 2.165 ft to inches

D = \frac{2.165}{0.083} = 25.99 inches

D = 2.165 ft or 25.99 inches
