Because when you are reading a plot of a story you need to imagine yourself as the character or object and use your five senses.

As the time passes Peter begins to open up to Anne and he becomes pleasant and attractive to her, by the end of their time in the Annexe, Peter changed in Anne's eyes because he has become more open and therefore earned her affection.

They were able to establish a mutual friendship because they lived in closed proximity and both longing for companionship. Although later on Anne realizes that the Peter she is infatuated with is merely a product of her wishful thinking projected onto him and distances herself from him.

1. Abnegation are chosen to be the political leaders of society because they are the most selfless of the factions, and therefore it is thought that they will do what's best for the good of the people and will not be corrupted with power.

2. Jeanine Matthews is the sole representative of Erudite, and Beatrice's father has a dislike for her because she released a report attacking his political partner, Marcus. I believe his actions are not warranted because there is evidence supporting that what Jeanine claims Marcus did to his son, Tobias, is in fact true. However, Beatrice's father does not believe that Marcus is capable of being cruel because of his faction.

Its a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. For example if I said its raining cats and dogs I'm just saying its raining really hard but I put it in a way that was dramatic so thats a metaphor.
