Explanation:

 • Robert Hooke, was the first person to discover cell.
 • When he observed cells he saw only the cell wall as the cells were dead and lacked the protoplasm.
 • He coined the term 'cell' in 1665

The color of a person’s eyes is determined by a single pair of genes. If they are both blue-eyed genes, then the person will hav
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

A) 50%

B) 25%

C) Same 25%

Explanation:

a) Smith parents should be heterozygous to the eye color gene, this means, they each should carry a copy of the “brown eye” gene (that we will call B), and one of the “blue eyed” one (that we will call b). Since the blue eye is a recessive trait, you can assume that they both inherited b genes to the daughter. If we draw a Punnet square (Bb vs Bb), we will see the possibilities of Smith having a copy of the blue eye gene (Bb), and it is 50%.

b) Again, with a Punnet square (Bb vs bb) we see that the possibility of having a blue eyed baby is 50% IF Smith carries the copy of the b gene. But since that possibility is established to be 50%, therefore the possibility of the baby to have blue eyes is reduced by half to 25%

c) The probability is the same, it does not have an additive effect, so there is no effect on the number of children

Forensic entomology identifies the fauna on a dead body to make predictions about the death. C) ants, mites, and beetles frequent the body 3-17 days after death.

What is forensic entomology?

Forensic entomology is the forensic branch that studies the cadaveric fauna associated with a dead body to make scientific conjectures.

Cadaveric fauna usually includes different forms of invertebrate species and their stages of development. There is a predictable sequence in which different species arrive at the dead body and inhabits it, and this sequence depends on the time the individual has been dead and the decomposition state of the body.

The species inhabiting the body and their developmental stage can be used as significant data to estimate the time of death, the region, and the circumstances under which the individual died.

Stages of decomposition depend on the region, but we can make this generalization,

 • 1-3 days ⇒ adult flies and eggs, and a few larvae

 • 3-5 days ⇒ bacteria and other microorganisms act. The decomposing body produces gasses that inflate the carcass. Larvae penetrate the body, release the gasses, and the carcass collapses.

 • 5-15 days ⇒ Maggots, flies, ants, and beetles have already reached the dead body.

 • 15-25 days ⇒ Most flesh is already consumed, and the body is in the advanced stage of decay. Although the number of invertebrates is low, the diversity of species is great. There are carpet beetles, ants, skipper flies, and mites.

 • 25-50 days ⇒ Almost dry body with no flesh. Some arthropods are still feeding on it.

 • >50 days ⇒ Bones

Note: Remember that these are approximations and might vary according to the region and environmental conditions, such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, etcetera.

According to this information, we can say that ants, mites, and beetles frequent the body in warmer climates between 3 and 17 days. Option C.

Arrange in the correct sequence these components of the mammalian immune system as it first responds to a pathogen.I) Pathogen i
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:

The answer is d. 3,4,2,1,5

Explanation:

The correct sequence is:

 1. Antigens from a pathogen bind to antigen receptors on Lymphocytes.
 2. Lymphocyte specific to antigens from a pathogen become numerous.
 3. Lymphocytes secrete antibodies
 4. Pathogen is destroyed.
 5. Only memory cells remain.

Adaptive Immune System/Acquired Immunity:

Adaptive immune system involves the part of immune system that is contains specific and highly specialized cells to target specific pathogens. Acquired immunity involves antigen specific antibodies that bind and mark a specific pathogen. This pathogen is then cytotoxically destroyed by specific effector cells of the immune system. Acquired immunity is also characterized by the production of memory cells at the time of mass production of antigen specific antibodies. These memory cells remain long after the pathogen has been destroyed to protect against consequent attacks from the same pathogen.
