Answer:

Option (4)

Explanation:

According to the Plate tectonic theory, the earth is comprised of lithosphere plates. These plates are of 2 types, namely the continental and the oceanic crust. These plates are constantly in motion over the viscous layer of asthenosphere due to the creation of convection current in the mantle. This currents are formed due to the heat radiated from the interior of the earth.

The evidences has also been provided that supports this theory. Some of them are as follows-

(a) The coastlines of the continents perfectly fits one another, suggesting that the continents were earlier once all together, forming a supercontinent named the Pangaea.

(b) Similar fossils such as glossopteris, gangamopteris, and marsupials are found in different continents that once existed all together forming a huge landmass.

(c) The similar types of rocks are also found in different continents and are determined by using the method of co-relation.

Thus, vegetation is not an evidence that supported the plate tectonic theory.

Hence, the correct answer is option (4).
