Cellular respiration is a process in which chemical reactions occurs that allows the body to take glucose and transform it into ATP. ATP is a more readily available form of energy for the body than glucose. Cells need energy to perform tasks, and respire to break the chemical bonds in ATP and then use it for energy. So, respiration occurs at all times in the human body, and is essential for survival.
