Myogenic mechanism is used to regulate blood flow to the kidney.

When blood flow increases to the afferent aterioles the smooth muscles its wall stretches and contracts to resist the pressure. This reduces blood pressure.

When the pressure reduces the smooth muscles relax to allow more flow of blood.
