In an experiment, two liquids with different viscosities (thickness) are allowed to drip a drop at a time into a flask, where th

ey are mixed. The apparatus is set up such that the first liquid drips 3 v ^3 − 2 v + 20 milliliters per minute and the second liquid drips v + 2 milliliters per minute, where v is the average viscosity of the final mixture. Which equation shows how many milliliters of the first liquid are mixed for every milliliter of the second liquid?

To find the equation we have to divide the rates:
( 3 v³ - 2 v + 20 ) : ( v + 2 ) =  3 v² - 6 v + 10
 -3 v³ - 6 v²
----------------
          - 6 v² - 2 v
            6 v² + 12 v
         -------------------
                      10 v + 20
                    - 10 v - 20
                   ---------------
                      r ( x ) = 0

Answer: C ) 3 v² - 6 v + 10

Explanation: the first thee are the fractions times the number in the parentheses. The last two are doing 10 divided by the fraction to get x. It's just reverse of the first three, because you have to find x in a different order, so you use division. Hope this helps.
