That is what Japan did to establish control in Korea.

Japan took control of Korea in 1910, after years of bloody confrontations. The Japanese Emperor ordered the prohibition of the Korean language in Korean schools and forced Korean people to be loyal to the Emperor. The Japanese tried to erase all the history, traditions and culture of Korea by burning more than 200,000 books and archives with Korean history.
