Roger Sherman

He created the Great Compromise (Connecticut Compromise).  This compromise helped solve the debate over the Virginia and New Jersey Plan.  These plans were brought up because the Framers wanted to get rid of the Articles of Confederation and create the Constitution.  This compromise helped put both ideas from each plan into the US Constitution.

Which statement best summarizes both the rise of capitalism and growing criticism of the system during the 19th century?
Vesna [10]

The correct answer is C) Capitalism developed as an alternative to inefficient mercantilist policies, but it drew criticism for increasing the gap between the rich and poor.

Mercantilism and capitalism are two very different economic systems. Mercantilism is a system which relies on one country developing a favorable balance of trade and obtaining valuable resources from a colony. This was the system used when America was still controlled by Great Britain.

As America gained independence, they focused on developing a more capitalist society. This society is based on individual freedom, as citizens can decide what they buy. Along with this, American businesses and citizens are not forced to trade with one specific country.

That's being said, Linocl had several difference with the view of the Founders. Regardless their sacrifice to establish this country, we can't deny that the founders allow the ownership of other human being as property in the constitution and he believed that united states could only achieve true liberty if it no longer restrict other humans' liberty in the process.
