At the beggining Great Britain still had colonies in north america, like Spain in the south border, or in the missisipi rivers, they ha dto make an agreement to establish the terrotiry the United States will occupy.
The early history of the United States also represented a moment in which the boundaries of the nation started to take shape. When the Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolutionary War in 1783, the United States had to settle the territorial boundary with Great Britain. The Americans were able to keep the land south of what is now Canada, east of the Mississippi and north of Florida. Boundaries also had to be discussed with Spain, as they owned East Florida and West Florida.
