Economic imperialism in China led to war and political collapse, while formal colonialism in Africa led to oppression of native peoples.
The isolation of China led to them falling behind the industrialized war. They then became engaged in numerous wars, including the three opium wars, as well as the Sino-Japanese war. As they were also behind in military technology and modern warfare, they were defeated and were forced to give concessions to theimperialists. Unequal treaties forced them to open ports, and grantterritorial concessions. China's land was exploited for its natura lresources, and the Europeans gained the right to build a railwaytransportation system within China.

Reil [10]

Answer:

D) Meat Inspection Act in 1906.

Explanation:

Upton Sinclair's book The Jungle was a fictional book about the experience of immigrants working in the meatpacking industry in Chicago. Even though this book was fictional, many of the details about working conditions and the unsanitary ways of the meatpacking industry were factualy. This book outlined the lack of cleanliness and disgusting habits of the meatpacking industry, including rats within some of the meat they sold to the American public.

This book caused outrage amongst American citizens. President Teddy Roosevelt responded to this book and its content by passing the Meat Inspection Act. This resulted in government regulation of this industry and a set of sanitary standards that busineses must meet.
