In the energy pyramid, plants get light energy from the sun and use it to manufacture food with carbondioxide and water by a process called photosynthesis and the are the producers.

The primary consumer feed on the producer and get energy from the producer...example include grasshopper.

The secondary consumer which are canivore feed on the primary consumer and these include frog, snake...

The tertiary consumer which are canivore too feed on the secondary consumer to obtain energy.

There are energy losses between levels, the population in each levels decreases. The level with the most energy are producers while the level with the least energy are tertiary consumer.
