First the " Tone" of a story is the way an author expresses himself. A "tone" can be angry, depressed, joyful, etc. The Author of " A Happy Home" and " A lasting Friendship", although uses the same techniques has a differnt tone in each. In " A Happy Home" the tone is happiness, joy. The wuthor is saying this is how to get a friend. For the other poem the authir is saying this is how you keep a friend. As the poem" A Lasting friendship" the author is showing how to keep a friend and have a healthy long friendship it takes work. such as it says in line 5, " And Work on it tommrow". Its not easy, everything good in life takes work. Thats what the author in this poem is trying to explain.
