Perpendicular lines have slopes that are reciprocals and opposite signs. Reciprocal means to flip a fraction. If it is a whole number, put it over 1 and flip it. Then change the sign to its opposite.

You could also do -1 divided by the slope you want to be perpendicular to.

Solve 2(4 x + 3) < 5 x + 21. { x | x < 9} { x | x > -5} { x | x > -9} { x | x < 5}
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

x <5

Step-by-step explanation:

2(4 x + 3) < 5 x + 21

Distribute

8x +6 < 5x +21

Subtract 5x from each side

8x -5x +6 < 5x-5x+21

3x +6 < 21

Subtract 6 from each side

3x+6-6 <21-6

3x <15

Divide each side by 3

3x/3 <15/3

x <5
