The North-American author Nathaniel Hawthorne generally uses the concept of duality to express the abilities of its characters. He tries to describe how in the same individual, it is possible to find the good part and the demonic part, which appears sporadically since it is generally used in order to find the good path. This author has been responsible for some of the most important pieces of the North-American literature such as <em>The Scarlet Letter </em>and <em>The House of the Seven Gables </em>in which the author shows the reader both sides of the coin: good and evil.
