A really good example of a homeostatic mechanism is maintaining proper body heat. When the body is too cold, the extremities will have vasoconstriction and shivering. When the body is too hot, there is vasodialation in the extremities and sweating. Between all of these mechanisms, the body can stay at the ideal temperature.
