In order to help the student expand his/her knowledge I will help answer the question. This in hope that the student will get a piece of knowledge that will help him/her through his/her homework or future tests.

Clara Barton founded the Red Cross in America, Mary Walker was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, and Nancy Hart fought in a guerrilla group. By eliminating these options we have Ginnie Moon left. Who in fact was a Confederate spy during the Civil War.

The definition which you wrote above doesn't refer to formal sanctioning, but rather to internalization. Formal sanctioning has to do with receiving formal punishment for something wrong an individual has done within a society.
