I would say something like this:

• The sound of a falling rock echoes

• Joe clings to a cliff side root

• Joe stands at a cliff's edge

• The edge crumbles; Joe disappears.

As a writter I really think this will capture your reader's attention and make them want to keep reading. Best of luck buddy.
