The literary point of view in "The Rescue Mission" affects the reader's understanding of the story because the story is told in the first person. He is not only describing the scenes and events from a distant point of view, without being necessarily connected to the events; on the contrary, he is at the center of events, and everything told goes through his feelings and impressions before getting to the reader.
