5. esta means your talking about a thing and estan means your talking about an action. they are both similar because your talking about something in general I guess.

Answer:

Las turistas estaban preocupadas porque el coche en que iban tenía poca gasolina. La gasolina no parecía suficiente. Las turistas miraron un mapa pero no encontraron ninguna indicación. Además , no había suficiente luz para ver bien el mapa. Era invierno y hacía mucho frío. Ellas hablaban entre ellas y se reían, pero estaban preocupadas.
