Broad leaves in Tropical Rainforests:

Plants that grow near the ground and tropical rainforests have broad leaves to capture as much sunlight.

The tropical forests are warm and moist due to evenly distributed rainfall. These makes it a habitable place for many leafy plants. There trees in the tropical forest are tall forming dense forest providing shades for the forest floors.

Since, plants require sunlight for photosynthesis, the broad leaves help to capture and trap the little sunlight penetrating through the tall trees. The tropical forests are also habitable for microorganisms and other bacteria which decompose quickly and become nutrients for the rapid growing plants and trees. Frequent precipitations also leach out nutrients making the soil infertile and acidic.
