Without heroes, we cannot have monsters. If there were no monsters to cause problems, we would have no need for superheroes. The only reason heroes are present is because they feel that it is their duty to fight off the monsters, and protect humankind from evil.

I believe it would be B, vanquish. For one to use such a fancy and strong word, would sound as if one were boasting. Example: "The young man brazenly claimed that he had vanquished the massive bear."
