Well, the rooms require 8 cans of paint, and since you spilled some, you have 1 can, so you would have to buy 7 cans of paint.

Because he painted 4 rooms and it takes 2 paint buckets to paint one room that is 8 paint buckets. Then you spilled 0.5 of a paint bucket plus the extra 1.5 of a paint bucket. Add 0.5 and 1.5 to get 2. Then add 2 and 8 to get 10. You bought 10 paint buckets!

Answer: 10 paint buckets

5. A packet of razors and a bar of soap cost £5.50. If the soap costs £2.50 less than the razors, find the cost of each.
alex41 [277]
Let the cost of soap be x,
cost of razors = x + 2.5
total cost = 2x + 2.5
2x + 2.5 = 5.5
2x = 3
x = 1.5
cost of razors = 1.5 + 2.5
= 4

The cost of the packet of razors and bar of soap is £4.00 and £1.50 respectively.
