Ann has 30% less money than Mary, and Jessica has 70% more than mary. If the three of them have a total of $102, how much does each girl have individually?

Remember that % means out of 100. So if Ann has 30%, she has 30/100. This is equivalent to 0.3
Similarily, 70% is equivalent to 70/100, or 0.7
But Jess has all the money that Mary has, plus another 70%... thus 1.7

We can set an equation for this questions: let's say that Mary is x. 

So 0.3x + x + 1.7x= 102
      2x= 102
        x= 51
Mary has 51 bucks. Since Ann has 0.3x , 0.3(51)= 15.3 and Mary has 1.7x , 1.7(51)=86.7

Thus Ann has 15.30 dollars, and Jess has 86.70 dollars...

The answer is 15.30 for Anna and for Jessica it was 86.70 . I did the math and that was the answer
