which of the following could be a topic for an opinion writing piece? a) my move to the united states or b) the benefits of a de
Grace [21]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Your move is your opinion while b is not. There are benefits in everything whether you believe in a certain thing or not. For example, I could be a person who likes chocolate ice cream but can also state the benefits in vanilla. Nobody can state an opinion on your move to the United States but you.

Which of the following sentences contains a misplaced modifier?
deff fn [24]
I believe the correct answer is B. The modifier "wearing a blue dress" is placed far from the noun which is supposed to modify - Stacey. Such as it is, it could easily be attributed to another noun, the stage. It would seem that the stage was wearing a blue dress, rather than Stacey. This is easily fixable with a comma between "stage" and "wearing".

The C and D sentences are also a little bit awkward, but they don't contain a misplaced modifier.

The relative pronoun "that" is used with an essential clause and the relative pronoun "which" is used with a nonessential clause
Lyrx [107]

Short answer: The pronoun "that" precedes details about the noun that are essential, while the pronoun "which" precedes those that are non-essential or can be eliminated without changing the meaning of the sentence.

Explanation:

In grammar, the function of "which" and "that" is to precede or introduce clauses, especially those that provide information about the noun. Additionally, these two words differ slightly on their function because they introduce specific types of clauses.

Indeed, the use of "that" shows the information introduced is essential or cannot be eliminated as in the sentence "My sister that is living in Europe get married" because the detail "is living in Europe" is essential to define "My sister". This does not occur with "which" because this precedes information that can be eliminated or it is not essential as in "My car, which is brand-new, just broke down" because in this sentence the key information is that the car broke down.
