Lactose is a type of disaccharide sugar and it is found in milk and dairy products.

A person with symptoms of lactose intolerance should avoid milk product because their small intestine is not able to make adequate of the digestive enzyme which is called lactase.

lactase function is to break the lactose present in the food so that the body can digest it.

lactose intolerance means inability to digest the lactose present in dairy food and as the lactose remains undigested it may lead to diarrhea, gas formation, bloating and discomfort in the stomach.
