1. Get all of the x's on one side of inequality. In this case, add 3x to both sides of the equation. This will give us:
–4x + 14 > –6

2. Now, subtract 14 from both sides of the inequality. This will give us:
–4x > –20

3. Finally, divide both sides by –4. Remember, and this is very important, that when multiplying or dividing an inequality by a negative number, you ALWAYS reverse the sign. In this case, this gives us:
