how does culture affect the identification and treatment of psychological disorders? be sure to define culture and provide an ex
expeople1 [14]

Answer:

There are many different types of cultures around the world. The way society works has a really huge impact on our lives, we make most of our decisions based on the norms of society. Unfortunately, mental illness is a serious issue some of us have been dealing with for a very long time. Like I said before there are many different cultures and each one of them has its own views and opinions about certain things. Many people suffer from a mental illness like anxiety or depression and they are afraid of asking for help because of how others may react, and it shouldn’t work that way. Our health comes first and if at some point in life we feel like we’re struggling and things don’t seem to get better any time soon, then we must ask for help from a professional. No culture or society should decide how individuals should deal with their emotional problems. Also, anyone who suffers from them shouldn’t be considered “special” or less at their jobs or schools, etc. For example, an important businessman may suffer from depression, he may be successful at work but he has a broken family, his wife may be cheating on him, his kids could be doing drugs, etc and he feels trapped and extremely sad. Due to some standards of certain cultures that men shouldn’t ever feel weak or “sad” and that there is no such thing as “depression” he may not ask for help, he fears rejection and doesn’t want to be made fun of.
