To begin, a strategy that I would use to find a meaning of a new word is by is by decomposing the word. For example, if the word was disrespect I would break it down into dis and respect and I know dis means to criticize and respect means to basically admire... and are then it means to criticize respect...

Hope this helps...

Answer:

When reading an article one can often run across a couple of unfamiliar words, but thankfully there are plenty of different ways to clarify the meaning of the word up! Of course one could use a dictionary to look up a word if all else fails, but then it will make more difficult for the reader to read efficiently and learn about these new approaches. These three strategies, used when trying to figure out the meaning of a new word, can help save time and allow you to fully comprehend the reading better. They include: using syntax, context clues, and understanding the structure or make-up of a word.

All in all, the best tools to help read as efficiently as possible include analyzing word parts, examining context, and checking appropriate reference materials to determine the meaning of unknown and multiple meaning words and phrases.
