Which statement best describes the action of a non-competitive inhibitor? Which statement best describes the action of a non-com

petitive inhibitor? A non-competitive inhibitor binds to the target substrate and degrades the molecule, preventing a chemical reaction from taking place. A non-competitive inhibitor binds outside of the active site and alters the shape of the enzyme. A non-competitive inhibitor binds to the target substrate, preventing the substrate from binding the enzyme. Answer:

A non-competitive inhibitor binds outside of the active site and alters the shape of the enzyme.

Explanation:

A noncompetitive inhibitor would never bind to the active site of the enzyme. It binds to some other site on the enzyme. A non-competitive inhibitor inhibits the action of the enzyme by causing conformational changes in the enzyme so that the enzyme cannot catalyze the conversion of the substrate into the product. In the presence of a non-competitive inhibitor, binding of the substrate to the enzyme is not affected.

olga55 [171]

Answer:

Homologous structures can be described as the structures which are similar to one another present in different organisms. These similarities depict that the organisms might have a common ancestor i the past. For example, the forelimb of man, birds, dogs.

Analogous structures can be described as structures in different organisms which perform the same function but might not have a common origin. For example, the wings of bats and birds.
