Muscular dystrophy affects the functioning of skeletal muscle. As this disease advances, it can impair the contraction of the di

aphragm and the muscles of the rib cage. What effect will this have on the ability of people with this disease to carry out gas exchange?
-It will decrease the ability to exhale but the ability to inhale will be unaffected.
-It will decrease their ability to exchange air into and out of the lungs, decreasing gas exchange.
-It will have no effect on their ability to carry out gas exchange.
-It will cause a buildup of mucus in their respiratory tract, decreasing gas exchange.
-It will lower the surface area for gas exchange, decreasing gas exchange.

Answer:

It will decrease their ability to exchange air into and out of the lungs, decreasing gas exchange.

Explanation:

Muscular dystrophy is a rare genetic disease of the skeletal system which occurs early in childhood. Other symptom of muscular dystrophy include impaired learning, muscle stiffness and pain. The rib cage protects and houses the lungs. When the muscle of the rib cages gets impaired then it affects how gases are inhaled and exhaled.

How protein are important in carrying out essential functions
Nadusha1986 [10]
It helps repair and build your body's tissues, allows metabolic reactions to take place and coordinates bodily functions. In addition to providing your body with a structural framework, proteins also maintain proper pH and fluid balance. also catalyse reactions in our bodies, transport molecules such as oxygen, keep us healthy as part of the immune system and transmit messages from cell to cell.

What are similar structures that evolved independently called?
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Answer:

Analogous structures

Explanation:

These structures are similar but not derived from the common ancestor like homologous structures. Analogous structures are formed as a result of convergent evolution-type of evolution in which organisms develop on similar way but independently. An example of analogous structures are wings. Birds, insects and bats all have wings, with the same purpose (flight) but they evolved in their own way.

HELP PLEASE!!!!!One of the central themes in biology is how DNA, RNA, and proteins are related. Describe how genetic information
Anna007 [38]
<span>DNA contains the code for all an organism's protein. Since many of the organism's structures, processes, and growth depend on protein the DNA is central to the well being of all organisms. In eukaryotes, the DNA is locked up in the nucleus. The area of the cell where proteins are made is in the cytosol (ribosomes). In order for the protein to be made the DNA has to produce a copy of the blueprint m-RNA. This messenger RNA will take the code to the ribosome. The process by which m-RNA is made is called transcription. A-U, C-G base pairing rules. Once on the ribosome another RNA comes into play t-RNA. This is called transfer RNA. Here it will take an amino acid and place it in the correct order to produce the desired protein. This is called translation. It begins with a start co don AUG. and ends with a stop codon. The protein will then go to the Golgi apparatus and be formed into its final shape.
